A volunteer teaching position in a host country may include a variety of educational jobs, such as: a teacher, tutor, classroom assistant, or vocational skills instructor. A volunteer teacher should have: good organization and management skills, a positive, friendly attitude, an enthusiastic manner and be interested in disseminating their skills and knowledge to students.

These positions provide a volunteer teacher with the chance to immerse themself in a new environment, improve their teaching skills, and provide direction to students, which guarantees a memorable experience.

A volunteer teaching placement provides educational opportunities which include a diverse range of positions, such as: teaching sign language, Math, English, arts and crafts, vocational skills, physical education, and music. In addition, it encompasses all age groups, from preschool to adult classes, which makes these opportunities suitable for those interested in teaching any age group.

While materials are provided in some volunteer teaching placements, there is usually a great deal of room for creativity and the chance for volunteers to design their own lessons and activities. This not only allows the volunteer teacher to conduct classes with material that they are most comfortable with, but also to gain experience in lesson planning.

We encourage education volunteers to do some preparing prior to departure and they will receive a TEFL manual to provide them with advice about working in a classroom setting and teaching techniques.
Once educational teachers are notified of their placements, they can contact our staff if they have any questions about their host organization's expectations.
